Liverpool will once again become a meeting place for authors, readers and everyone who values books, culture and local creativity. On 2 August 2026, the Liverpool Book Festival Summer Special will take place at Boxpark, in Cains Brewery Village. This will be the third edition of the event organised by Justin Hopper, founder of La Vida Liverpool.
The festival was created with authors in mind, as it is not always easy for them to stand out in a world dominated by the largest sales and promotional platforms. Its aim is to create a direct space where writers can meet readers, present their books and build connections around literature.
This year’s edition will feature dozens of authors representing a wide range of genres and writing styles. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet them in person, discuss their work, purchase books and discover new names. Publishing houses will also take part in the event, including TAUK Publishing and Madison House Press.
However, the Liverpool Book Festival is not limited to literature alone. The organisers have prepared an extensive programme for the whole family. Attractions will include stalls run by local creators and craftspeople, a selection of food from street food vendors, live music, as well as engaging talks and conversations taking place in the conference area.
A special place in the programme will be given to the Kids Zone, a free activity area for younger visitors. Children under the age of 12 will be able to attend the event free of charge. This initiative is intended to help families enjoy summer attractions without placing too much pressure on their budgets, while also encouraging children to stay active, engage with books and spend time together away from screens.
Social engagement is also an important part of the festival. During the event, fundraising will take place in support of local organisations helping children, families, people experiencing domestic abuse and those in need of mental health support. Beneficiaries include Reverse North West CIC, Mersey Mind Project, Y Kids, Inspiring Minds CIC, Positivity Club and the NSPCC.
The Liverpool Book Festival Summer Special promises to be a day filled with literature, inspiring conversations, music, family attractions and local energy. It is an appealing event for both passionate readers and anyone looking for an enjoyable way to spend a summer day in Liverpool.
