On April 25, 2026, in the historic surroundings of Liverpool Town Hall, a remarkable evening took place, serving as the ceremonial culmination of the term of office of The Right Worshipful, The Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Barbara Murray. The event brought together representatives of local government, distinguished guests, community leaders, and individuals who have long been engaged in charitable and civic activities on behalf of the city of Liverpool.

The ceremony carried special significance. It was not only an opportunity to reflect on a year spent serving in one of the city’s most important public offices, but also an expression of appreciation for the work, dedication, and community mission undertaken by Barbara Murray throughout her term.

The evening began with the ceremonial entrance of invited Lord Mayors and representatives of local authorities from various towns and cities across the region. Their presence served as a symbolic expression of gratitude to Barbara Murray for her service to the people of Liverpool and for the initiatives she carried out throughout the year on behalf of the local community.

From the very first moments, guests were able to experience the unique atmosphere of one of the city’s most prestigious buildings. The elegant halls of Liverpool Town Hall, the carefully prepared setting, and the excellent organisation all underscored the importance of this special occasion.

Arriving guests were welcomed musically by Councillor John Prince, who performed evocative pieces on the piano, creating a unique backdrop for the first conversations and meetings among attendees.

The highlight of the official part of the evening was the address delivered by the Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Barbara Murray. In her speech, she thanked everyone who had supported her during her tenure as the city’s First Citizen. Special words of gratitude were directed to colleagues, volunteers, charitable organisations, and members of her team, who throughout the year helped to deliver numerous community initiatives.
