You are warmly invited to take part in the World Poetry Day celebrations, which will take place on Saturday, 21 March 2026, from 9:45 am to 4:45 pm in the Hornby Room at Liverpool Central Library.
This special gathering will bring together lovers of the written word, poets, and readers to celebrate poetry as a universal form of expression. The event is organised in support of the Lord Mayor of Liverpool’s 2025 - 2026 charity fundraising campaign.
This year’s official charity chosen by the Lord Mayor is the Liverpool Education Grants Trust (LEGT). The foundation supports the education of children and young people in Liverpool by funding projects that develop skills and competencies and improve young people’s employment opportunities. Funds raised will support programmes including Youth Works Apprenticeships, Liverpool Literacy Cycle, and Liverpool Poetry Space.
This is not only a celebration of literature, but also a real opportunity to become a link in the chain of positive change.
How to apply?
To register as a reader, please contact Pauline Rowe (a member of the Lord Mayor’s Fundraising Committee), who will send you a registration form and further details about the event.
